*What is the Ethical Trading Initiative?
ETI exists to improve the working conditions in global supply chains. It is an alliance of companies, trade unions and voluntary organisations, which work in partnership to improve the working lives of people across the globe who make or grow consumer goods.
Audits to confirm ETI standards are met, scrutinising the following aspects of ethical working conditions for workers: no forced labour; respecting workers' freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; safe and hygienic working conditions; no child labour; payment of living wages; working hours that are not excessive; no discrimination; regular employment; and no harsh or inhumane treatment permitted.
