Green People's packaging is recyclable and non air-freighted. They only use the purest, natural and organic ingredients hand made in small quantities to ensure you receive the freshest products possible.

 Directions for use:

Using a small amount of toothpaste, gently brush teeth and gums morning and evening, and preferably after each meal. There is no need to rinse remaining toothpaste away – left in the mouth it will continue to have a protective action against bacterial growth.

Ingredients in this GREEN PEOPLE organic children's toothpaste:

Calcium carbonate (chalk), Aqua (pure water, micro-filtered), Glycerin (plant derived), *Aloe barbadensis (aloe vera) powder, Xanthan gum (corn starch gum), ^*Mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, ^*Mentha spicata (spearmint) oil, Ascorbic acid (vitamin C), ^Commiphora myrrha (myrrh) oil, *Limonene (from essential oils). ^fairly traded *Organically grown.

*Organically grown

Please note that this toothpaste is not certified organic.  It does contain organic ingredients, but in order to attain organic certification, it would have to have a minimum of 70% organic ingredients.  As the main ingredient in toothpaste is calcium carbonate (chalk), this makes certification harder to achieve, although Green People are working towards developing this toothpaste to further increase its organic content in the near future.

Additional information about Green People's natural toothpaste for babies and children

Green People's toothpastes were formulated by a dental care expert with over 30 years experience in the industry, and they offer effective cleansing of teeth and gums when used regularly with the correct brushing technique.

However, they do not contain fluoride and cannot offer the same level of protection against fluoride deficiency induced dental decay as a fluoride containing product.

Please note: Green People's advice for people who wish to supplement with fluoride is to use drops or tablets which can be obtained from a pharmacy. These give a precisely controlled dose of the mineral, unlike toothpaste dosed with fluoride.

Are Green People's children’s toothpastes suitable for babies?

Green People's children’s toothpastes are suitable for babies as well as children. The Mandarin toothpaste is the most popular with babies, and the Spearmint & Aloe Vera toothpaste for children over the age of 2-3 years.

Do Green People toothpastes clean our children's teeth? The Calcium carbonate contained in Green People's toothpastes is gently abrasive and will help remove plaque, whilst the addition of essential oils will help kill bacteria. The real key to good oral hygiene lies in brushing the gums and teeth at least twice a day - preferably after every meal.

Tubes not filled to the top

The tubes are a standard size and are capable of holding more than 200ml if totally filled. However, during the sealing process the tubes are squashed before being crimp-sealed and if we don't leave sufficient space for this to happen then product gets squeezed out during the sealing process.

All tubes are filled by a machine that automatically injects the correct volume into each tube. These are then check-weighed to ensure that they do contain the stated amount. Therefore, if it states 200ml on the label, then there will be 200ml of product in the tube regardless of any airspace.

How do Green People's toothpastes foam?

There is no foaming agent added to this product. If small amounts of foam are forming in the mouth when it is used, that is simply the action of brushing introducing air bubbles into the mixture of toothpaste and saliva in the mouth.

Why don’t Green People's toothpastes contain Fluoride?

Fluoride when taken in excess via toothpaste and ingested can enter the bloodstream and have a hardening effect on the bones.

We believe that by offering toothpaste without fluoride Green People's customers can make the choice themselves as to whether they need to supplement their diet with this mineral, rather than forcing them to take medication that they may prefer not to.

Why do Green People's toothpastes contain Glycerin?

Glycerin is a humectant - it holds onto water and prevents the toothpaste from drying out in the tube, and also prevents dryness in the mouth during brushing. It can help reduce bacterial activity by reducing the available water activity and therefore has a protective action against tooth decay. Glycerin does not damage tooth enamel.

Can Vitamin C cause gum irritation?

The Vitamin C in Green People's toothpastes is the acid for, eg. Ascorbic acid. This is the only form that works in the context of gum protection in the mouth. It is used at a very low level, and is certainly not present at levels that could cause or even aggravate mouth ulcers.

Bear in mind the base of the toothpaste is Calcium carbonate, which is an alkali. The overall pH of the toothpastes is between 7.0 and 8.0 which is classed as neutral, and is non-acidic.

What is Corn Sugar Gum? The proper name for this ingredient is Xanthan gum which is produced by the fermentation of maize starch (corn sugar) with the bacteria Xanthomonas campestris. During the fermentation process, the sugars in the corn starch are converted into long chain polysaccharides which have a gelling effect when added to water. Xanthan gum does not contain any mono-saccharides or di-saccharides (sugars) and has no adverse effects on the teeth.
